PMS organized a Salon on National Voter Registration Day to empower members with all the tools needed to be a political activist leading up to the election. During this salon, Nadia Rahman and Raveena Rihal Singh walked through simple, tangible, and very doable steps that we can all take to activate our networks.

Their top message: "We are much more likely to influence people we know and have personal connections with than strangers, so let’s harness that power. Social pressure works, whether through direct contact or via the magic of social media.  Remember, a goal without a plan is just a wish."

Please reference the following resources to activate your network and Get Out the Vote! #Election2020 The slide deck we reviewed during the salon can be found here and the salon recording is available here. Pay it forward - please share these resources with your networks by forwarding this email to friends and family you would like to activate.

Start Strong: Get Organized and Be Intentional

  • Go through your phone and email and build a contact list to activate via email, text and phone calls for the next six weeks - by Sunday, 9/27

  • Add reminders to your calendar for key dates (deadlines, early voting, etc.) and events (like phone and text banks) and follow-ups (ping people to make sure they've registered, have a plan to vote, make it out to vote, etc.)

  • Follow organizations like PMS on social (@postmarchsalon) to learn about candidates, campaigns and actions to take. Check out our #TakebackTuesdays

  • Don’t reinvent the wheel! Creating templates make communication easier with multiple people (be it an email or text). And plug into existing events that are already organized and taking place with campaign and organizations like Swing Left and Sister District.

Voter Registration

  • Verify Your Voter Registration at vote.org

    • Vote.org is also great for state-by-state info for important dates, polling locations, and vote-by-mail requests

  • Add this signature to your email:

    • "Are you registered to vote? Check your status and register to vote at Vote.org"
